Since Jeff doesn't that he should be forthcoming about a major issue with a bass he sold me , I thought that I could at least alert other prospective buyers about dealing with him. He was very wordy before the sale touting the bass and its condition etc. Now he does not respond to email , voicemail or texts.
After receiving the Turner I found that the truss rod adjuster was stripped and the hex all rounded off. I contacted him to inquire and he said he never adjusted it in his 10 years of ownership.
If he wants to play it with excessive relief that is totally up to him. However when you sell something and tell the buyer that there are no issues with it , you should make sure that you are describing it as it is, after all this is not a scratch or ding I have issue with here.
As the buyer, and paying a good amount for it, I don't think it unreasonable that I have to play it the way it is so I contacted Rick Turner about repair options and long story short , I would have to pay a few hundred dollars for the fingerboard removal and truss replacement plus the cost of shipping. Since this was not supposed to be part of the deal, I forwarded Turners correspondence to Jeff , then asked if he would send a partial refund to help cover about half of the repair. He responded by saying that he had a question about it . That is the last I have heard from him . I thought it irresponsible and kind of rude actually, to not even respond or give any explanation or try to come to some kind of terms. After a couple tries to contact him I can only assume that he did know about it and just didn't want to deal with it so he sold it off . Now I can dump more money into it or live with it . If I decide to sell it as is , I'll then have to take another hit on it as it is compromised.
Overall I would not deal with this T'ber.
