Nice couple of instruments there.

Does the bass have 8 separate saddles for intonation or only four?

I had to go look to remind myself! Yes, surprisingly, there are eight separate saddles. Typical vintage Hagstrom with two opposing screws adjusting the position of the saddle on a sort of cast rail on the bridge, just half the normal width.
