  • Hello Xavier,
What are your thoughts on body wood? I know the fodera has a swamp ash tone block/center with slightly heavier as upper and lower bouts which I believe are also swamp ash. Also, what are preferences or thoughts on set neck vs. bolt-on? What about pickups, I have always liked the sound of EMGs, but what do you think of the others? Thanks

Hi Vincent. The swamp ash gives to you a rich mid-low tone. Is a great option to build your sound but all is up to what kind of wood you gonna use on fretboard and neck.

For a clear and focus sound choose ebony fretboard. For mid and more warm tone choose indian rosewood and if you look for highs and crystal sound choose maple fretboard.

On the other side, bolt on gives you more attack and punch sound. Set in neck is a mix of bolt on and neck-thr. Gives to you a little bit of volume and sustain but the attack.

About the pickups, EMG are great but I'm not fan of active pickups. But if you like it there's no problem to install it. Aguilar humbuckers sounds amazing in passive mode and nordstrand are great too. Both have this classic vintage sound.

    Xavier.
