When I was a touring musician back in the early/mid 80s I was playing in Massachusetts and went into a small music store and played my first fretless. It was a Ferrari red Pedulla Buzz. I looooved that bass but in my early 20s I was a tone chaser and traded it a few years later. Biggest regret ever.
For years I’ve been looking for one like that and a few weeks ago on Reverb I spotted this baby. I am overjoyed
"overjoyed" --- as you should be! that's an impressive presentation. pretty cool that your 'biggest regret ever" has this beautiful resolution. congratulations on your new instrument!
My Buzz was the best fretless I’ve owned…beat out B.C. Rich, Steinberger, Carvin, G&L, Godin by a wide margin. Mine was of similar vintage to your red one from the looks of the controls and bridge.
That is awesome! I got to play a Pentabuzz once and I was like "Yep, that's it! Too bad I can't afford it!" I'm still hoping one day I can get one but they keep getting more expensive. I've been so intent on the Pentabuzz I kind of forget that there are 4-strings out there. Maybe I should expand my search.
I totally understand the tone-chasing thing but I have to ask: if that wasn't "it" then what was?
