I ordered a new Ibanez SR300E from ZZsounds, it arrives, the volume knob is not working, it's on, and it has volume but turning the volume knob does not turn the volume down or off, very weird,, so I ship the bass back for a replacement.

My second New SR300E arrives, the bridge pickup is only being held on by the screw by the G string, the screw by the E string is stripped and will not screw down, the spring under that side of the pickup is pushing the pickup against the E string, I noticed the lopsided bridge pickup the moment I unpacked the bass, so I send the second SR300E back for a replacement.

The third SR300E replacement arrives,,, I check it out big time for any problems, no problems found.
I then file the nut just a bit to accept my lifetime BEAD setup I use on ALL my bass's.
Takes me a few days to discover the bass will not stay in tune, and the tuning keys require lots of turning to tune the bass,, so I guess the tuners are soft/defective.

***,,, is Ibanez QC just none existent ?

I'm sick of sending back the SR300E for replacements, is there any way to fix the tuning keys ?
Have others had issues with the Ibanez tuning keys ?

I'm primarily a Fender player but I really like the newer Ibanez SR300E for the great sound, fast neck, lightweight, the look and many other reasons.

Feeling a bit frustrated at this point though with Ibanez.

Opinions and ideas on a fix for the tuning keys would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Call Ibanez USA directly, I had a minor issue with a bass and they were great.
You need to check out Sweetwater, they QC all of their basses before they ship them to the customer.
Check the neck's truss rod and tighten the mounting nuts holding the tuning machines to the head stock.
These are the tuners they use on all of their basses, I own 5 Ibanez basses and have never had an issue.

I know this is an old thread, but I'd figure I would share my experience with the Ibanez SR300Es through SR400Es (pretty much the same bass). I think they sound great, but you're right, the tuners are horrible. I've also never had an SR300E that didn't need fretwork. The frets are always uneven and the necks are not stable even in Louisiana where the humidity is usually the same for most of the year. Mind you this happens on EVERY SR300E that I've owned which is a shame. The tone of the bass is amazing and it sounds great, but I would never recommend them, due to the spaghetti necks that they have. I do have an older 2006 SR500 that is amazing and the neck doesn't budge, but it's also a wenge neck with bubinga stringers. Heck even the GSR100EX that I own is way better than the SR300E. Neck is very stable and the fretwork on mine is great.
