In my search for the right delay, the TC Electronic Flashback came out on top because of its simplicity of use but the universe of tonal possibilities. You chose the type of delay you want (tape vs. slapback, etc.) and then you have 3 simple controls over each: delay, feedback and fx level. Those 3 knobs give you an immense breadth of effects and those are multiplied exponentially when you start adding other effects or tonal alterations to the tone stack via pedal, eq, instrument (pup selection, volume, tone, etc.).
Of particular note on the Flashback is the Tone Print functionality. Like someone else's settings? Import them! Want to try something new? Go to the tc electronics website and download all you want! It really opens up the ability to update and upgrade without ever having to spend more for a different piece of hardware.
If you like to stack sounds while you create or practice, the looper functionality is icing on the cake!
