    Band Ambitions/Expectations

Sorry I’m advance, as this will probably be kinda lengthy. About a month ago I auditioned for a band that an acquaintance told me was looking for a bassist. He’s a professional guitarist and vouched for this group, so figured it’s worth looking into. At the time I was starved for an outlet to...

Turning my pre CBS Fender P into something even more rare and special!

I did a custom extra special relic job on my pre CBS Fender P. I think it actually turned out really great: If anyone wants something similar done to their bass just throw me a PM, I'll do it cheap since it's more like a hobby for me, turning old vintage basses into something even more rare...

Building a P Bass .... Royale Blue Sparkle paint job

Hello everyone. It seems my dream bass keeps going up in price. And it is already out of my price range. So I am planning to make a clone of it. And I would love your advice ! I can either buy a P Bass kit, OR I can buy a MIM or MIJ P Bass. It does not matter to me. What matters is, where can I...

Remove cloth backing on old cab Refurb job

So, I have an old Mesa Boogie Diesel 2x10 that I've decided to refurbish. I removed the black vinyl leatherette but, the cloth backing from the original covering did not come up with it. I've looked around on TB and nothing directly addressing that and I can't seem to find anything on youtube on...

    What is your job?

I'm talking as a band. Make people dance? Sell beer? Entertain? I've watch many posts about making people dance. But I remember the old days when you had to sell beer. There were so many crappy sounding bands out there but the ones that got the gigs sold beer. Right now our drummer turns...

I work nights in an automotive factory making $20/hr. We are playing 2-3 shows a week now. Anybody have any ideas? I don't have a degree and I'm a felon but I can get that dropped to a misdemeanor in 2 years

    NPJD (New Paint Job Day)

...And I'm using "paint job" in the loosest term possible. Long story short, this is what a can of yellow spray paint, zero patience, and just above freezing weather looks like on a black bass that was not sanded or primed. I promise that it looks better in these pics than it does irl.

    I need a new job

I have been working as a case manager for the last three years. Before that I taught high school English for one year and hated it. A lot has changed about my job and I have not adjusted well. One change that I am resistant of is having to track my time. I am salaried and I liked the flexibility...

Found a rare Dean 10-string! But look at this rout job!

They swapped out the original pickups for some BassLines and routed a different size for them. But as you can see... I just can't get past it! :crying: I'll stick to my octaver when I need it... I'll still try it out later today, but I don't see myself buying it.

Is this a good price for a fret job?

I found a luthier about an hour away from me who will crown and level the frets, install a new nut (I'm providing the blank), and setup my bass for $150. Does that sound pretty reasonable? Thanks!

    You're only given ONE job...

I'm about to pack an absurd amount of stuff into my bass. Took off the pickguard, and started dis-assembling the old electronics, and I noticed- Some assembler in Korea did a really outstanding job with the conductive paint, got right into all the nooks and crannies, even the pickup routs. Then...

Repairing Paint Job and Resale Value

Hi guys, I just recently acquired a Stingray 4, but it is used and shows wear on the back paint job. My question is, if I took this to a luthier to get repaired, how would this effect resale value? Does the value automatically drop due to any touch up painting? Or would it maintain its value...

So, I'm gonna convert my SX jazz bass to a fretless and i want to repaint it.I don't want it to be just like Jaco's bass of doom and I also would not like it to be to dark (because my Warwick Streamer is already dark brown).Any cool/crazy suggestion is welcome.Thank you!
