Dear Colleagues, I am 71 years old, and I have bad arthritis in my thumb joints and my right hand wrist after it was broken in a car accident (a hit and run). I play double bass at church. I primarily play pizz, but the music director has me play occasionally at an extra mass or special event...

Recently acquired a used Ibanez SR Prestige. Great bass, but the frets are very beaten up (still playable, not a ton of buzz yet, but some fairly deep dents in the wire). I do really love this bass though, so was considering busting out a pack of TI Jazz rounds from my stash.
Now, these strings...
Put these on when I had my UV70 setup a few months ago.
Stainless steel.
Only a few hours of action, I couldn’t get used to light gauge.

I usually play with 45-105 roundwound strings (harley benton because they're cheap) and I wanted to try a lighter string gauge. I bought a set of 40-100 strings (warwick). I had to set up my bass for the strings and I realised my set-up wasn't great even with the old strings.
There was too much...
I briefly put on (and intend to keep handy) a set of Fender tapewounds on my P bass with a gauge of 58-110. Granted, tapes are not as stiff as flats, but moving back down to a 40-100 set of Rotos rounds, it feels almost effortless playing fast runs and moving around the frets.
Does anyone use a...
Besides Elixirs and D'Addario EXL, who makes a decent coated string? Looking for a good-sounding string that can withstand not being played for several months and still retaining its life (not every bass I own gets played a lot, and it's a bit dusty here).
Elixirs and D'Addario EXL sound just...
Light gauge Chromes for short scale. Brand new. Never installed. Only taken out of the package to find that they are too short for my short scale bass (my shorty is a hollow body and requires long scale strings).
$30 shipped to continental USA.
Thanks.

Hello, I'd like to try super-light 40-95 gauged strings (have Dunlop Super Bright 40-100 at the moment) - could use some help from those who knows the subject.
I'm mostly playing blues/classic rock stuff and even though I dig sound of Dunlops - a little less tension would be nice.
I've never used light gauge strings before, but I want to try them out. However, Id prefer a set that is considered to have higher tension than the average light gauge string

Sup guys, bass newbie here!
I started playing bass a few months ago, owning a yamaha TRBX174 (I prefer to get better before starting to invest more money).
So right now I am thinking about changing my strings (pretty sure it's roundwounds) to tapewounds, because I heard that they are very...
I'm looking for a set of strings like D'addario "Custom light" or "medium" gauge that will fit a lakland 55-02 through the body. I like the D'addario custom light prosteels on my warwick thumb 5 BO (even though that bass STILL sounds dark with the steels), but I can't seem to find them in the...
30" scale bass. Currently have D'Addario 50-105 mediums on it but they are a bit too rough on my fingers, ordered some D'Addario 45-100 lights. Playing rock/punk with a pick. Am I going to notice a big drop off in tone with the lighter gauge? Don't care if its slight but dont want a noticeably...
Has anyone here experimented with both gauges of the light gauge Chromes?
I'd like to know what you think about the differences in tone and tension between them.
I play an Epiphone thunderbird classic pro. I just got new strings a few months ago. Will lighter gauge strings give me a more Twangy and almost Geddy-like sound. Thanks!
