    Aluminum neck plate?

    Anyone using aluminum (or more correctly aluminium :)) neck plates on a Fender style bass? There's a few makers on ebay. Is this strong enough? Some say made of aircraft aluminium. (Looking at shaving an ounce or 2 off my bass and that chrome neck plate has to be worth a few!)
