I'd like to compile a history of "punk jumps" -- i.e. when musicians (typically rock, often punk) on stage jump during the performance of a song. Sometimes it's coordinated so that multiple musicians jump at a predetermined point in the song; other times it's a one-person affair. I'm focusing...
PRICE DROP 7/29 - I think this bass is going to sell on Reverb soon, so I've also dropped the price here.

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone can help me choose some Year 12 HSC performance pieces. HSC is basically the music performance exam for Australia that you take in year 12 as a senior.
I am not overly experienced, still at a fairly intermediate level however, so nothing too complicated please...
This has been the busiest year in musical performance since I started doing this professionally, back around 2004.
I was walking down the street last Sunday and passed two backyard shows - one featured a mariachi band, and the other, a reggae band - and a block party which had a brass band...
I prefer to stand on stage right (to the right of the drummer) on stage because, I feel, I get a better perspective view of the whole band for visual cues. It's also more natural for me to have my head positioned towards the neck of my bass (RH player).
I've noticed that a many British or...

Hey guys,
I'm going to be in the market to get an amp for live use in the next few months. I have been a fan of Fender Rumble Amps for awhile and currently have a Rumble 40 to use for practice and small jams. I have been drawn by the aesthetic of the Micro VR but it seems to be an amp that...
Up for sale is an Epifani PS 1000 head with SKB 2U hardcase. This head pumps warm, massive, articulate, punchy low end! Was my personal rig, but moving and looking to downsize.
All components are in 100% working order and blend wonderfully with almost any cab. This rig can pull off literally...

Performance YB-5 Jazz 5 string. Early model/prototype, there are a few differences with the current production one, including no markings on the headstock. Excellent condition, one small crack in the back of headstock and a few very small dings. Comes with a gig bag.

Sharing this to see if anyone else had a journey similar to my "love the one you're with" story.
In my head, I wanted a short-scale for long gigs. Never had one. Easy to play, light weight; what's not to love, right? Went to the music store to pick up a repair and, concerned about neck dive...
Sorry if this thread has been well-trodden but I just have to know what other people think.
Personally mine would have to be Santana’s Woodstock performance of Soul Sacrifice, I cannot listen to it enough times.
How about you?
OK, bring it. Have a favorite inspirational nugget from the undisputed best movie and best band of all time? Is it the 2 word review for Shark Sandwich? Eleven? Dobly?
Stole this from an article in Business Insider. Let's see your inspiration.
On April 8, 1990, exactly thirty years ago, the first episode of Twin Peaks was aired, the legendary series by David Lynch that revolutionized television and the concept of television series itself. To pay homage to my favorite series, I decided to make this bass cover of the iconic theme played...
Hi bassists! To conclude the tests of this Harley Benton PB 20 satin black (although as soon as possible I will try to create a demo only bass and drums so as to provide an even more concrete idea of the sound), this time I chose a classic of the indie rock years 2000 of The Strokes played with...
New test of the Harley Benton PB20 satin black ... this time dealing with a piece with a funky flavor by Muse!
As always if you want to listen to other covers, not only of this instrument (which in any case will arrive in the coming weeks), I invite you if you want to subscribe to my channel...
For the cover of this week I chose again a piece by Bruno Mars with a very fun bass line to play ... and I am more and more convinced that Mr. Mars has a Mr. Bass in the ranks of his musicians!
Hi guys, I made this demo where I try to demonstrate the versatility of a Tribe SF4 bass, a model inspired by the legendary Fender Jazz Aerodyne but with a series of upgrade that make it a much more versatile instrument. Hope you like it!
I will be crazy but personally my favorite Deep Purple team has always been the Mark 3, for me one of the strongest groups ever. And Glenn Hughes one of the best bassist singers ever ... This is my tribute to my favorite piece of this band played with
my black pj limited edition.
PS I love...
Hi Guys, I could use some advice...
I have a basement which is 28x23 feet and ceiling is 8', and I want to create a coffee shop like "venue"/experience...
I play as a hobbyist in a "Dad band" and my kids are learning and playing music as well. So instead of having a rehearsal room or a...
Does your main band (whatever that means to you) play ticketed events in a dedicated venue?
Or do you play in a restaurant / bar setting, either for a negotiated, set price, or for the cover/door charge or some portion?
Here in the Philadelphia area there are several live music listening venues...
A couple of years back I built a 2x10 sealed and 1x15 w/ Horn cabs vented a la visual of VOX 1960s for Beatle cover band. Quality materials including 13ply birch plywood, Eminence components and to the best of my limited technical skill followed OEM specs on cabinet volumes, port size etc. But...
I have 2 decent, low-cost "working man's" basses. I've been thinking of an upgrade. Same specs, basically a nicer version of a bass I already have. I want to separate inspiration from GAS.
So I'd love to hear your experiences and opinions on the subject. When does a nicer bass translate into...
Our duo (keyboard/bass) would like to have some sort of digital drum machine/app for live gigs. Mainly acoustic jazz standards.
Can anyone recommend an app or a machine that would be good for a live performance?
Howdy bass brethren!
It's been a long time since I was active on this site. Seems it's changed a good bit and there are a lot more guidelines, as things do. Hopefully, I'm posting this in the correct place and not ignorantly stepping on toes.
I was just wondering if any players on here are...

Despite being a bassist for over 25 years, I’ve never had a preference for standing next to hi-hat or ride - I’ve always been most interested in the kick drum and hearing the entire drum kit and band as a whole.
Yet, there seems to be this preconceived notion amongst (non-bassplaying) musicians...
I'd played rhythm guitar and sung in garage rock bands during high school in the 60s. What fun! Playing VFWs, skating rinks, CYOs, etc. Cheapo instruments and amps. Changing personnel. Butterflies, but in a good way. Bass always the weakest player, despite all our coaching.
In college in the...
I was asked recently to collaborate with two performance artists. We're still hashing out the details but I will probably play in two segments, maybe about 10 minutes each.
Segment 1: woman behind a curtain, with bricks around her. The man comes over and slowly drags her away. They asked for...
