I'm thinking about experimenting with bi-amping and potentially modifying my bass with separate outputs for the bridge and neck pickups à la Rick-O-Sound. Is this approach worth the extra complexity? Could I achieve significantly more tonal richness/variations than I could with just a mono...
I've been wanting to install a neck pickup on my Gibson LP JR DC since I bought it, mainly to use as a woofer pickup in a dual-amp setup. I even had the very same idea of a crossover-as-pickup-selector that was mentioned in this older thread:

The switching jack in my Ric 4003 has been unreliable for as long as I've owned the bass. The least amount of movement on the plug causes one of the pickups to cut out or the output level to drop significantly. As a result, I haven't been able to trust the bass enough to use it live.
