I need HELP with my new rig before I start a fire!

My Peavey Mark IV head is giving up the ghost. I ordered the Behringer Ultrabass BXD 3000H. My cabs are an old Peavey 1810 and a Peavey Headliner 410. I'm not sure how to wire these cabs so I get the full 300 watts from the head. The Ultrabass has 1 output which will give 300w/4ohm, or...

    Bass amp intermittent start up.

This is an update to my previous thread . I want to praise the excellent service from "Dawsons music", who answered my call to them, I told them my problems with the amp, by this time it had completely stopped working, they didn't hesitate and sent me a new amp, which I received this morning...

Loop synchronisation on loop start, rather than measure start.

I'm looking into looping gear at the moment, and I'm finding it hard to get started with hardware because of the apparently two different "worlds" as regards synchronisation (between master and slave devices) On the one hand there's Digitech's proprietary 'Jamsync' technology, which actually...

Hi, I have an rumble 15 amp. I plug my laptop to the aux and play some drums on youtube. I like to practice that way. Gonna start a new 5 string build ...Ziricote and Spanish Cedar

The body will be Spanish cedar with a ziricote top. Spanish Cedar is very lightweight, and is actually a lot closer related to Honduran mahogany then it is toany type of Cedar. It’s also quite beautiful, A lovely reddish color. Ziricote, of course, is a beautiful and hard wood ... has lovely...

Do Bassists who start out as Guitarists prefer 6- or 5- or 4-string basses?

The 5/4 string preference convo made me start thinking about this... I started out as a guitarist, and selected a 5-string bass as my first...just felt better. Wondering how many did the same thing?? Or preferred a 6 or the 4?? and Why?? Although I often wonder, "If a 6-string had been...

This seems like the place to start

Hey there, figure this is a good spot to introduce myself. I used to play bass back in the day, nothing too serious, just gigging out with a few bands. Where to start eliminating variables with P pickup troubleshooting

I posted a week or so ago about my weak pickups in a new entry level bass. How did you start playing bass

The background is a little complex so I’ll stick to basics. I played a little acoustic guitar and knew maybe four chords. I had been playing just over a year and didn’t know anything about licks or riffs. I may possibly have been able to play “House of the rising sun” by then. This was 1969 I...

Hoping to achieve a satin-ish finish like the one in this video. Any tips before I start?

I’ve been going back and forth on how I want to achieve this. I’ll be spraying lacquer. I’ve thought about shooting in a semi gloss and just calling it a day. I really can’t find any examples of a semi gloss sheen in lacquer, and locally I can only source lacquer by the gallon, so it might be...

Thinking about getting into vinyl - Where to start

I haven't purchased an actual record since the early 80s. Generally, I find them expensive, bulky, fragile, and the gear to play them hard to maintain. Ahem.. seasoned players, when did you first become aware of or start using roundwounds?

Just that, when did you first hear of and start using round wound strings, do you still use them, how did you become aware of them? For younger players this probably sounds a little odd but all bass strings as far as I am aware of were flatwounds until at least the mid to late 60's. I started...
