Just made some cold sesame, peanut butter, ginger noodles--my favorite. Post your favorite Asian snack or meal and share your funky knowledge of Future Funk, DJ Edits, Vaporwave and City Pop etc .
Here is a 24+ hour playlist if you need some info:

Does anyone have links to any Japanese effects or even bass guitars review sites? There seems to be some reviews scattered here and there but not much. About the closest I can find that does reviews and sales is Japan bass direct. Any others?
thanks!
We might be a small group on Talkbass but I know there are some of us here who live in Japan. Tell us where you live, where you're from, and what you do! Your group member# is in the order that you comment on here.
I currently live in Tokyo, grew up in Yokosuka, and teaching English at a few...
Like many places around the world, here in Japan corona restrictions have certainly had an impact on live performances... so go with the flow...
Online live events have been growing here in Japan and we were invited to perform an online concert by a company who has worked with us to provide...
Hey!
I'm having trouble finding a place that rents electric basses in Tokyo. I've had many replies from stores saying they don't rent and even googling it is not helping much so far.
- Could somebody recommend a place where I could rent a bass?
- I bought a converter that changes the three...
Im in Tokyo for the week and forgot to note the name of the store(s) featured in Bass Player Magazine around Jan or Feb of this year- can anyone help!? I’ll get some pics to post if I can get there!
Google is not helping me
Thanks to all
Next October i will be in Tokyo for a few days,... it is strictly a pleasure trip and I am looking forward to shop for a fine bass guitar. Since is the largest city in the world, I would appreciate if someone with experience could give some tips on where should i look.
Thanks a lot!
I hope y'all don't hold it against me, but I'm a long-time guitarist (35 years) who initially bought a bass for doing 4-tracks (remember those?) at home, and only started trying to be a proper bass player last year. It didn't take long to realize that I have quite a challenge ahead of me, so...
I enjoyed some of the feedback from previous posts, and a few people were interested in the places I play...
Here are a couple excerpt video to give you insight to a "small" place. This is a blues bar we often play, and like many places it is small. There are a ton of amps stacked up all over...
Hey there,
I'm heading to Japan for a few weeks in April and looking to rent an upright for the duration of my tour (4/17 through 4/30). Flying in and out of Tokyo. I would change the D and G string to gut, but would change it back when done. I'll even donate the gut strings as part of the...
This past week we play a relatively new place in Koenji, Tokyo called "HOWL the field". Not sure where the names come from, especially when in English.
Basically a Food Bar, a bar that serves food (really good food). As with many places it is small, maybe a 20 customer capacity.
The couple...
This is not so much a specific gig report, but I though some folks might be interested in the Tokyo blues life...
In a previous gig report I post about Tokyo "gigs" and a bit about the "live houses". One great thing about some of these places is the sheer love of playing that most of the...
I recently stumbled upon this on YT and even if I haven't listened to all of his recordings, I find this to be the "hottest" that I am aware of (maybe because he is mixed very in front). Because of the sound I mistook him for Sam Jones at first ...
It seems that the album goes as "3+1" and has...
I live in Tokyo and am part of an original blues band. For those of you who have never seen the Tokyo music scene, there is not enough space here to explain it... but briefly:
Our group would be known as a "oyaji band", oyaji is a term than can mean "old man" or "dad", so we are either an "old...
This is for sale for a week. Im looking to sell in order to buy one or two specific available basses. This is an excellent Sadowsky Tokyo with active/passive, boost or cut preamp. Still has the adjustment wheel, like the metros. will ship in a Fbass gigbag. Reasonable offers! Its worth...

Not sure whether this is the right place to post – if not, please re-direct. I know this post won’t be of immediate interest to everyone, but since I found out about Freedom Custom Guitar Research (FCGR) from @Whippet’s postings in this forum (for example here), I thought I would “give a little...
I know this is a long-shot, and apologies if this not the appropriate place to post this question, but...
I'm currently living in Tokyo, and not sure where I could take my bass to get it properly adjusted. I don't speak (much) Japanese, so looking at local forums is unlikely. I've gone through...
I know some of the folks here are travelers. I will soon be heading to Tokyo for a few days of meetings, followed by three days to sightsee.
Are there some good suggestions about things to do and see in that free time? I want to get out and see a bit of the country. I'll need to use public...
Just want to post this unique Sadowsky Tokyo P. The bass and treble controls are inside the control cavity. Perhaps this bass was made for players who prefer a passive P most of the time but also use the preamp only to boost the signal when needed ....nice idea. I will do the same to my Fender P.
