Recently made a TB account but have been lurking for years, what's up everyone :bassist:
I've been in the market for a fretless recently and have been eyeing a CIJ '93 JB-62 fretless version, the only non-factory change I can notice are the Delano PUs. I can't find too much info on it online...
Sire P5 in a decent condition! Bought it mint from Thomann and didn’t really need it anymore. Planned on selling/returning, but had to be used in an avant-garde music piece as a backup instrument and suffered some string scrapping damage on the fretboard/fret in the performance. Other than that...

Never thought I’d ever be selling this one, AGAIN. One of the earliest Forte 5’s built! I was the original owner that custom ordered this beautiful Spector Forte 5. It came back to me a little more than 2 years ago. But as it goes sometimes, I’ve gone in a different bass direction. I haven’t...

I know this is a long shot, but this is the kind of magic the internet can help turn into a reality.
I am searching for an old bass guitar that was actually the first bass I ever used and learned how to play. The bass was my sisters, and after I bought my own bass I returned hers. After a few...
So recently I've been looking for a used bass, and looking at my options (on Facebook marketplace) I could buy an ESP LTD B-55 for almost the same price as a new one, or I could trust this guy who sells an LTD D-5 for half the price of a new one.
Should I go with the safe option or I just buy...
Hi all,
I am planning to start playing bass and so need to find a good beginner bass and amp. The advise given on this forum is consistently 'buy used'. However I have struggled to find good places to buy used gear, ideally online. I am from Ireland, and so the gear must come from Europe to...
Hello fellow TB'ers. I was just reading the classified, as we all LOVE to do. I especially love reading them when I am actually looking for a purchase, as opposed to just window shopping.
We commonly see the phrase "This bass has never been gigged, and hardly played" to describe a bass. I mean...
Hello everyone, firstly, I wanna thank everyone in my first thread I ever posted, Yall are to kind and Im glad this community exists!
Two, regarding the Warwick thumb, I am currently debating on purchasing this one I had found in a music store. There is indeed some use, I would probably start...
If you buy used instruments online, you know this scenario.
The box is delivered. You eagerly open it and pull out a case or gig bag with your new used bass inside. You examine the bass, play it, adjust the action and intonation, maybe install your strings of choice... And finally, when you're...
I’m asking because the bridge looks weird and I haven’t seen a streamer with one switch and that knob configuration

When I get some more money should I buy a used Warwick corvette proline (5 string) or used Warwick 2003 bubinga corvette (5 string).
I can get them shipped to my local store but which one would be better
Proline corvette: $1,079.99
Bubinga corvette: $899.99
Should I consider getting a...
I fell in love with a Yamaha RBX765a while lookomg for my first bass. It got sold before I could earn the cash for it. There's one listed on Reverb for $150 USD (including shipping, price was dropped from $250). It's got a few problems: a stripped truss rod and a broken nut. The nut I'm not...
Hey there everyone! I got a '98 5 string warwick corvette in the mail a couple of days ago and to bring it up to modern spec I replaced the nut with the Just a Nut III. I was just wondering if there has been anything else that has changed that would be worth replacing on this bass. Thanks for...
So I keep hearing all this praise for the Peavey Millennium series basses, but mine is 16 years old, and used. I remember the guy it was bought from saying it was “like new” and “never played”. The bass sounds nothing like any recordings of others of it’s model, like something’s missing from the...
I started learning bass last month on my Ibanez gio I got from guitar center. It recently broke (not surprised- it was like $80) and my budget for my new bass is ~300 dollars. There’s a guy selling an 8 string bass for $325.. I looked up reviews for the bass and it looks great, but I can barely...
Hi. I want to buy a bass but right now I don't have a much money, which bass you recommend me to buy (it could be an used one but I want good condition). I am not a beginner bassist. I live in USA. Thank you for your help.
Selling my first 6 string string bass for what I paid for it. It's in good condition, but it's a player's bass. It has some buckle rash and a few small dings and usage scuffs on the front. I've tried to capture these in the pics. Also, three of the tuner washers are busted or removed. It doesn't...

Hello all,
Im in the maket for a used fender american made jazz bass and kind of new to the bass. I really dont want to spend above $800. Which models should i be holding out for in your oppinions. I understand that I should try them out to get familiar to the differences in sound and feel of...
Is it just me, or if you have a used bass and it is missing a serial number for any reason, the resale value is brought way down unless there is some other way to authenticate the bass.
Examples I see are:
1) a serial number on a metal plate is removed, presumably because someone didn't like...
I've bought and sold several basses here and from other sites. I've never had issues using payment sites like Paypal. However, I've never sent a cashier's check. I've been researching it and it says that's one of the worst ways to buy items online and hope the seller ships it. There is...
$80 pawn shop Fender Squier p bass. Needs cleaned, strings and pick guard bit looks decent otherwise. Haven't plugged it in yet but think it was a decent deal.

I haven’t played a bass for years but wanted to get back into playing just for fun at home (I’m disabled and not well enough to play in a band situation) so I only wanted to buy a cheap secondhand bass at this stage.
I saw this one on eBay and liked the colour, which I know isn’t a terribly...
O.K. So being that at least 50% of these strings were on a bass for less than a day some for a couple of weeks and mostly cut for a 4 inline fender bass as well as some 5's. Easily over 30 sets. Please don't ask to separate also I don't remember the brands. But they're all USA made. Btw some...

At quick count, I think I've bought 6 or 7 used basses online ranging from medium quality all the way to boutique.
Something that seems weird: on every one of them, I've had to do major setup work. I don't think I run my action all that crazy. I shoot for around .010" to .015" relief...
I'm going to check this old bass out tomorrow morning. I'm guessing it's some type of Teisco?
I'm told "one pickup doesn't work". I think I can prob deal with that.
What else to look out for? Should I try to make sure the truss rod works? What tool might be needed for that?
Any other advice...
I recently purchased my first bass used from GC and I was wondering what strings were on it. The squiggly stuff in the pictures is my dogs hairs and not scratches on it. They got curious while I was trying to snap pictures lol. It's a Yamaha TRBX304 Bass and I know that Yamaha puts strings on...
I know that Squiers Jazz Basses and Sterlings Rays are obvious choice, they sound rather bright, but maybe there's anything else highly reccomendable? There are so many guitar brands and models. So I thought I'd ask you guys.
Bass-ically, I really like bright bass sound and that's how I'd like...
I had to sell my bass earlier this year (Tobias Killer B) -USA made-and now need to replace it. I play country to blues to jazz. I like a warm round tone. I e not seen head to head comparisons with the five basses im considering and i would love to get your feedback or other suggestions. I...
**Edit March 2018**: I have received several inquiries about the negotiation of the price. It is in mint condition so it's like buying this bass new except about 1,000 dollars cheaper. If you're looking for a JP-2 bass that has some scratches and is closer to 1500, this isn't the right bass for...

Hi all you experienced bass buyers. I found this P-bass on craigslist and actually found a thread about the exact same bass on TB from a few years ago. Apparently it is very heavy. The price is low ($250) and I am in love with the brass pick guard and the funky cracking on the finish and...
I recently walked into a pawn shop, looking for my first bass to buy. Now, my money is tight but looking up this bass said it went from $250-$350 new and was a fantastic beginner bass priced at only $120 in near mint condition. It was, allegedly, a Squier P Bass, and that is what the employee...
