1 EQ knob has no effect, but everything else works?

I got a used 6 string for $300 last month. ESP LTD B-206SM with 3 band preamp. I was familiar with this model and didn't even plug it in at the guitar shop. Played great, wasn't concerned, I know other guys with this bass.

What's odd is that the high EQ knob (nearest output jack) has no effect on output. Low and mid work as expected. Output from bass is fine. No other electronics issues.

The wiring was zip tied inside. I removed the zip tie and poked around. No obvious wire break or loose solder that I noticed, but hey I'm not an expert.

Sooooo....is this a bad knob and simple fix? Is this something dead inside the preamp black box? I'd attempt a simple fix, and I'd even take it to the best guitar shop in the state for repair...but I can live with it if it's fried and means replacing $100+ in parts.

All replies appreciated. I did ask a guy who owns the same model bass, he's never had any trouble with it.

Hmm interesting. I'm sure it's dead though. Other player mentioned he cranks it when doing the obligatory 'bass solo' but otherwise leaves the EQ flat. I generally leave it flat too, but nice to tweak when needed.

It looks like a pretty easy pot to replace; maybe a 5-10 minute job. Invest the $5 in a new pot and solder it in there....see what happens. If it doesn’t fix the issue, then the preamp itself is suspect.
