1955 FENDER BASS - YA GOTTA SEE THIS!!

Those cracks in the fretboard, the headstock, and on truss rod channel aren't encouraging. I don't know anything about restoration, but that looks to me like thousands of dollars worth of work on top of an already-too high $2500. Be interesting to see what it goes for, but if it were me, no dice.

I saw that when it first posted on the 'Bay. The body easily looks workable, but the neck has very wide splits in a couple places that look way too wide to simply glue back shut. A real shame too because it appears it was a custom color fiesta red, which seeing the seller is in San Diego, might also have originally been a NAMM show bass in 1955 since Fender displayed custom color basses for the first time there (of course just speculation on my part).

Hey! Just consider for a minute: True vintage Fender. A relic finish that IS NOT a restoration! More mojo than ANY bass I've ever seen.

It it were mine, I'd carefully restore the playability of it while TOTALLY keeping the look and mojo. I'd LOVE to prance on stage playing something that looked like that! But then I'm currently into blues and THAT is what the ultimate blues bass looks like! Five grand? A bargain! ;)
