I've seen a lot of love lately from owners of 1964 Ears IEM's and I didn't seen a dedicated thread to the owners of these IEM's, so here we go.

If you want club numbers we can do that, but mostly this is a place for appreciation of the product and for people to come ask questions about the brand.

Mine are Quad drivers, and they're fantastic!

Lovin' my V6-Stage IEMs! I prefer the clear model as they appear to be invisible in my ears. These are also proving to be extremely useful for mixing as they provide very balanced sound. My mixing room is a cavernous place that would cost a fortune to turn into a decent listening venue with treatments, gear, etc. The V6-Stages are a bargain by comparison. Suits my purposes well. The dual bass drivers are the same as the Quads so you can pump up the low end with EQ on demand. When I received these, the right module was rubbing against my inner ear so I returned them to 1964 for tweaking. The company turned them around in a few days and now they are a perfect fit. I've worn these for 4-5 hours at a stretch and barely notice them with zero discomfort. Overall, compliments to 1964 for an excellent product and service at a reasonable price.

I agree with you that the clear is the best option for invisible results (MUCH better than a nude, or skin tone IMO). Personally I wanted something that reflected my style and tastes. I also figured if I'm going to throw down the cash, I should be 100% thrilled with them, and that look did it for me. Different strokes, as they say.

IME, you'd be surprised how on a "typical" dimly lit stage, you can't really notice they're there. In the bright lights on a video set, or playing outdoors, they are clearly visible though.

And I was thinking the Trans Purple with the Trans Pink and recessed cables. I am still saving my money for a set and hopefully by Christmas I will be able order. I think the Quads would work for me but the V6 and V8 look tempting but the price point may keep me at the Quads.

I agree with this! It's a lot of money to spend, so make it count. I find it annoying to look for the little red or blue dot on my universals each time I put them on, so I went with colored shells to quickly help me discern which is which. The garnet sparkle on the faceplate was a last minute addition, but it's my birthstone and I want people to notice these bad-boys! People need to know how awesome they are

I've been using these Quads for just over a year now and absolutely love 'em. For me, the hardest decision in purchasing IEM's (after doing my research) was not what company to use or what model to get but which color to pick and if I wanted to customize them. :laugh: I ended up deciding on the trans blue but to be completely honest, they all look great!

What is an approximate cost for these? I feel I have IEM in my future and have never used them, but have heard lots of positives regarding this brand.

1964ears recommends the hard canal tips for longevity sake. The soft tips will break down over time and seal less effectively. I don't know if that's in one year or one decade though.

I went with Quads in translucent black and platinum with a red canal so that I can easily see the right monitor quickly on stage. These sound awesome. I'm hearing much more clarity than I ever did with Shure 315's and the bass is fantastic. Not muddy or overpowering at all.

I'm having issues with not getting a great seal. I sent them back, they tweaked them, but they still aren't quite right. I'm getting impressions re-made with my audiologist (for no additional fee) and 1964 will re-work them for me. I'm still pretty positive on Roman and the guys at 1964 since it's not necessarily their fault and they turn the re-fits around very quicklky. I can't wait to get them just right!

I copied my post from another thread on this topic. It might not be everyone's answer, but I was in the same situation, so here's my solution. It kept me from having to return them and be without them for a while, something I was dreading....

"I had that issue with one ear of my 1964 Quads, but I'm using mine on a steady basis and I absolutely hated the idea of sending them for a refit and doing without them, even thought they suggested that I do so.

While talking with 1964 about the issue, I asked if there might be something I could try in the meantime to keep the seal from breaking. They suggested trying the Comply Soft Wraps that are used for hearing aid fit adjustments. It's a long thin foam strip with really good adhesive that wraps around the canal part of the mold. I searched and found them on the, where else, the internet, but they may be available at a local hearing aid store. I paid $10 for a package of 20 of them. They saved the day! They have solved my fit problem, which could be my fault, anyway. The fit is great and the seal does not break at all. and it's not uncomfortable. One lasts about a month before it gets nasty and I need to change it.

I see no need at all to send the molds in for a refit, although I'm changing ear doctors when I get the next set of impressions made."

Here's my set of Quads, shown with the Comply strips on them. Nothing at all fancy, except for the longer cable. For some reason, Wednesday night, I started having trouble with the other ear losing the seal. I keep the strips in the IEM case, so I used one and problem solved. However, I'm really aggravated over this now, and I attribute it to the ear doctor I went to. The church sends everyone to another doctor in town that I found out about AFTER I had my impressions done. None of the church folks are having trouble with the fit of their molds, so I'll be a-changing doctors if and when I have another set made. I'm thinking about getting the V6 Stage models later on this year. And that's up in the air, I have no qualms with my Quads. But UBass says the V6s are great for mixing with, something I could use from time to time (less as time goes on, but nonetheless...)
