I Channel Surf During Commercials. (Drives my Wife CRAZY!!!)
I have a 1971 Gibson EB-0L with the slotted headstock. Sweet bass. Light, Long Scale, and all original. OK, the MudBucker is not my tone, so I got a Dimarzio Model One pickup put in wired in Parallel. I also added a Hipshot bridge in hopes of adding sustain and MASS to the Body of this Neck Heavy bass. It sounds GREAT! But the pickup poles on the treble side do not line up. I'm not sure why, but the D is weak, and G is almost non-existent. Does the L o n g-er scale throw the string spacing off somehow? I thought maybe the Hipshot bridge had changed the spacing, so I put the original back on. Same problem.

So, is there another "Drop In" pickup that will accommodate this spacing? Any suggestions, or observations of something I may have overlooked?

I will add pics soon...

It turns out I have a Will Power Model One instead of a "Traditional" Model One. The string spacing is 3/4" for the Will Power, and 5/8" for the Gibson replacement. The Pup I have is actually a TAD over 3/4" pole to pole. So, time to get the right one!
