2024 Price Increases

First up is La Bella. Their new prices will go into effect on Jan 12, 2024, so you can still buy at the current prices until then. Let me know if you're interested in a bulk purchase, I'd be happy to quote you whatever.

A quick/incomplete look at La Bella's 2024 prices indicates this:

The 4-string 760FX/FL/FS/FM/M will go from $42.95 to $45.95.

The LTF-4A sets will go from $44.95 to $45.95. The LTF-5A sets will remain the same = $59.95.

For the new Olinto flats: OSF-4 will go from $44.95 to $45.95, OSF-5 will go from $59.95 to $56.95 (a DROP), OSF-6 will go from $64.95 to $66.95.

The same looks to be true across their entire line of string products. Fairly modest increases across the board.

DR just announced their 2024 prices. They go into effect on February 1st, so you can still buy at today's prices for now.

DR says most of their strings either stayed the same price or had a modest increase due to rising manufacturing costs.

Here's what I see after a quick look-through:

Fat Beams, HI BEAMS, Sunbeams and Lo-Riders are all going up $1 like this:
4-string from $23.99 to $24.99
5-string from $31.99 to $32.99
6-string from $36.99 to $37.99

Pure Blues 4-string and 5-string sets are going up $1 like this:
4-string from $24.99 to $25.99
5-string from $33.99 to $34.99
6-string no change (they'll stay at $37.99)

Black Beauties stayed the same, although these do not have a Minimum Advertised Price so you may see price variations from dealer to dealer.

Looks like the LEGEND flats actually went down, or else I've had them priced too high (oops). $39.99 for 4-string and $49.99 for 5-string are the new prices. I've already adjusted my prices down to match these new prices. I haven't been stocking these very deeply since they became hard to get in the Covid days. I think they may be more readily available now, and if so I'll make more of an effort to get these in here again.

As far as new products go, DR says they are bringing back their buttersoft straps in black and brown. I've never carried these before, but I think I'll order a few just to dabble and see if they sell. You'll see these online for $69.99.

Lastly, DR has teamed with Fodera to come up with a new line of strings called "Fodera x DR". These are not merely a relabelled version of an existing string design, these are an all-new string design with materials and gauges specified with Fodera's input. They feature a rough high carbon steel core with compression winding for balanced tension and optimal response. They'll be available in both nickel plated or steel versions. I'm sure I'll be stocking these, so I'll share more info in this forum (perhaps in a different thread) once I make that move.

Suhr just announced their 2024 pricing. No changes to their guitars. Looks like their Classic P bass went up $150 to $3549, and the Classic J Pro is now $3399.

Most of the Suhr pedals and Suhr Tone Tools will stay the same. The only exception is the Woodshed compressor that went from $140 to $200 due to cost increases for some part(s) in that one.

I still have 3 of the Classic P basses on order. I'd like to think they'll arrive sometime in 2024, but Suhr also announced a 4-month slip in their production schedule (so it's now around 18 months, I think). I'm not holding my breath. I know they'll be fantastic whenever they do arrive, and I still very much want to own one myself. Sigh.

Winter NAMM is the last week of this month, and that is typically when G&L announces their new prices for the year.

I don't know if there's going to be an increase this year, they're being coy when I ask that question. But if I had to guess, I would think there might be a modest increase this year.

Just throwing that out there in case anyone wants to lock in a special order at 2023 prices. We just need to place the order before G&L makes their announcement (if there is an announcement to make), which might be something like Jan 26th.

TI will be doing a price increase on February 20th, and it looks fairly significant.

The JF344 set is a good example, probably the biggest mover for me. I don't know what other dealers will be doing, but I'm probably going to be raising the price from $77.99 to $88.99. That's in proportion to the increase in dealer cost, so that's just me maintaining the same profit margin percentage.

TI officially has a Minimum Advertised Price for each set. Unofficially, I don't see many dealers paying attention to that. Using the JF344 set as an example, the new MAP on the JF344 set will be $101.95. I'd never sell a set if I priced it there... so I won't. :)

If you've been hemming and hawing about getting a TI set... don't wait!

Speaking of price increases, DR just announced that Black Beauties now have a Minimum Advertised Price. They never have before, so the prices of those have probably varied quite a bit online. Effective immediately, dealers now have to show the new MAPs, so the pricing on Black Beauties should start to look more uniform online.

FWIW - I used to let the 4-string Black Beauty sets go for $24.99, and the new MAP is $27.99. There are similar increases for the 5- and 6-string sets.

Did G&L do price decreases? I saw on sweetwater most models got a substantial price drop in the last week

Well, shut my mouth. I just got a call from Dave McLaren, and G&L are indeed dropping their prices. Dave basically said he wants folks to be able to get into a BTO for under $2K. They have also brought back a bunch of options to the BTO line: nut width and radius I already knew about, but also Metal Flake finishes, neck blocks (but NOT neck binding), and body binding.

I'll be getting the details this afternoon, and then I'll get to work updating the G&L Pricing thread as well as the quote request tool on my website.

I currently only have a few BTO basses in the production queue for customers. Hit me up if you're in that camp, I might be able to revise your pricing downward.

For anyone who recently received a BTO build, I won't be able to get any relief from G&L on the pricing that went down for those basses... but I would be happy to work a nice deal for you on the next whatever you might need (strings, amps, cabs, whatever).

Since I'm sitting on some now overpriced instruments, I'm going to run a sale to try to quickly move the 5 G&L basses that I currently have in stock. $300 off any/all of them, while supplies last.

2 of the 5 basses are BTO L-2000's, and those can no longer be ordered. So check out those two basses especially!

This is an "automatic" discount on my website which means you don't have to do anything special to make it happen. Just go to any of the basses, add it to the cart, and you should see $300 get knocked off right there in the cart.
