5 string Flatwound set with a Tightest & Stiffest low B string?

130 B on EB group flat 2810 set.
Stiffer than Cobalt flat 130 B.

The most important thing is both EB flat 130B has nice clarity and tone balance with EADG. The best Flatwound B I been use.

But.... you have to check the string hole on your bass bridge , both EB flat B has thick silk on ball end side which a bit difficult pass the hole.

There are not a lot of flatwounds in S.Korea and I found 2810 at small shop but I couldn't found any Chromes in this country. I think I should try this. Thank you!

Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats seem to have a unique sound for flats. I have them on my Yamaha TRBX605. It took awhile to get used to hearing that sound, but I like it now because of its clarity and unique flavor. After while I tried going back to flat and found I missed the EBCF's sound on that bass. The only thing is that you just have to wipe them down with alcohol before installing them as they have quite a bit of "stiction", so they must be putting a subtance on those strings, but easily wiped off. Again, better to do it before installation just because you can wipe the whole string.

I have my reason why I not recommend ecb chrome . She sound bright and fine when new, but after couple months, you will find the G string still keep bright meanwhile both E and B string change thier bright tone to Darth Vader sound.
Both EB flat give me great string to string tone balance even they get break in.

I also believe both eb flat could make 5 string jazz bass has better clarity B string sound too.

The 2810 has dry tone compare to juicy 2816.
2810 great to tame Stingray zing, but 2816 keep that zing.

So confusing those numbers. The packaging is very obviousl 2736 Cobalt Flats is what I use. But what's the difference between those and the 2816s? The packaging is different, but other than saying Cobalt Flats the difference isn't obvious.

Check the string winding, flat or round ..... i was surprised that we were taliking about the same string before....

EB doesn't seem to make it all very clear on their packaging- at least on the photos of the packing.

You're right about EB's packaging being a bit confusing.

Left (2736): The word "cobalt" is there, but it doesn't have the word "roundwound".
Right (2816): The word "flatwound" is there, but the word "cobalt" is way at the bottom in a small print.

IMO Cobalt should have been more prevalent with the flats. If you look at the SS packaging it doesn' have SS on the front anywhere. IMO their packaging should be more uniform in terms of where the description words are printed so it is easy to ascertain the differences. The image below indicates "custom gauge", but in reality it's the same gauge as the Cobalt Flats and the Slinky Cobalt. I think differentiating more clearly on their packaging would help their marketing, especially for new or potential EB customes who aren't familiar with their stuff.

Ernieball prefer use “ Part number ” style to find/name their products...... but. .. their user are not all engineer.

But, both eb traditional and cobalt Flatwound start with 28xx....
