I live in Tokyo and am part of an original blues band. For those of you who have never seen the Tokyo music scene, there is not enough space here to explain it... but briefly:
Our group would be known as a "oyaji band", oyaji is a term than can mean "old man" or "dad", so we are either an "old man band" or "dad band". Might depend on our audience on any given day. Normally we play "live houses", maybe I can take time to explain what those are some time.
We also have other "hats" that we wear when we are not making music, and that is related to this gig post. Our vocalist/guitarist is a former Japan champion boxer... and now a church pastor, I am a missionary, lead guitarist is a studio owner and guitar teacher, drummer is an IT programmer (not in this video because he has a "real" job, this was Monday afternoon)
Once a month we participate in an afternoon "talk" at a local ministry where we combine both of our "hats."
This was capture on a Canon Mini X. an "unplugged" type of performance... actually they ask our lead guitarist to play a special song, so while he was searching for something to play, our leader launched into one of our regular songs... to keep from having too much empty space.
We are all playing on tiny amps, my Tacoma is plugged into my Vox Pathfinder 10... yes I hear you laughing, but it gets the job done in a small room.
