Why are these allowed?

Those are Google adds.

I don't think TB controls what adds Google puts on pages.

But those adds normally follow the themes of your web searches, Facebook conversations, whattsapp groups, etc..

Have you been talking about guns on whattsapp, or Facebook, or other social network?

In any case, you can click on the cross on the top right corner and indicate you don't want that type of adds.

Jeff:

I say this with no disrespect.

You've started (and gotten answers in) these threads:
The gun ads are back...
Donald Trump ads
Gun ads

Paul responded directly to you here little more than a year ago: Political Ads??????

What else needs to happen for you to understand that Paul/TalkBass can't control what ads are shown, nor can they be blocked?

Simply put, Google Ads places those ads based on YOUR internet browsing habits and based on who Google thinks you are (demographics, allied interests). It’s spooky how accurate they can sometimes be.

Doesn’t matter if you’re for or against one thing or another, just that you’ve demonstrated interest by searching for and/or browsing that type of contest elsewhere.

You’d likely see bass ads on a gun forum...if they run Google Ads.

If you use gmail and other G-services, Google knows more about you than anyone else.

Not to mention talking, emailing about or being around a conversation about advertised items.

Ads are based on your browser cookies. Clear all of them out and that should help.
I'm not expecting Paul, or anybody else for that matter to be able to get rid of these kinds of ad, I am just letting folks know these ads are showing up on TB.

Also, I clear my cache several times a day just as a matter of routine.

You can clear your cache all you want but if you have a phone, pad, laptop or desk computer the Goog tracks you across all of your devices and platforms.

Once, on my phone, I looked up the difference between the Swedish words god (good) and bra (also good) to see what the nuances were.

the next day the ads on my work computer were not safe for work.

And don't Google "nuns and suds."
