Adding a 2x10 Hartke HyDrive

I'm thinking about adding a 2x10 HyDrive to my LH1000/4x10 HyDrive set up. I stand pretty close to the rhythm guitar players amp and just to the left of the drummer. There are a lot of times when I can't hear my bass clearly. We don't play all that loud and I've never had the need to go past 2 on the volume knob. I run into the passive input and the amp output is set to the bridged mode. If/when I get the 2x10 I'll probably run the amp in the "stereo" mode so as to control the balance between the 2x10 and 4x10 cabs. Has anyone else done this? I'm very curious as to the results.

I have a Hartke LH1000 and used to have a HyDrive 410 and it is super loud so it cannot be a volume related issue as to why you are not being heard especially as you are only on volume 2.
I am not sure adding a 2x10 will get you 'heard' more as you may need to look at other things like where sonically you fit with your guitarist, the dispersion won't be that much different.
Can I ask firstly how you EQ the amp as the bass is covering it.
A flat EQ on the Hartke is bass at 2 or 3, Mid at 10 and Treble at 2 or 3.

What guitar and rig does your guitarist use?

To be at it’s best a 2x10 needs to have twice the impedance of the 4x10 it’s paired with. 8Ω 2x10 mated with a 4Ω 4x10 for a total; load of 2.67Ω. This way each driver in either cabinet “sees” the same amount of power.

Run in parallel mono with one cabinet on each channel this is less of a concern.

If you play around with the balance control on the lh1000 you should be able to do this with no problems

Sure, just don't try to get the 2x10 as loud as the 4x10!

Also, even with a 4x10 under it might as well still set the 2x10 vertical to get your height advantage.

Sounds like you need more monitor, not more amp. You said you can't really hear yourself (well) over the guitar and drums - how do you sound from the audience? If you sound great 20 feet from the stage then you need to hear yourself better at your current stage volume, you don't need more stage volume. Usually a monitor is to hear the guys on the other side of the drummer, but you could use it for your bass if the drums and guitars are both to loud. But honestly with that amp on 2 you can certainly go up :)
