My favorite local music store in Westminster, MD decided to offer a Rock Camp for Adults who either never played or no longer played in a band. It was 1 1/2 hours a week for 5 weeks. We did push it to 2 1/2 hours the last 2 weeks. Week 6 (this past Monday) was a live performance at a local restaurant/bar. It was a fun time for this Old Plucker. It brought back some memories.

That's me. The Gary Grainger bass played through the Fender Rumble 500 combo. I played it active for the 1st half of the set and passive for the 2nd half. Even did a solo using the Rumble on-board compression. I want more of this. It's my new retirement plan. Other than my hands were aching after a long time long "When The World is Running Down, You Make The Best of What's Still Around", it felt good.

Greetings from the North,

Rocking the Police... Right on! I think that's a great retirement plan. I see in your icon pic that your amp is so old it has ridges. Oh it's a Kustom Tuck n Roll! Swanky.... Sometimes I miss mine ;-)

That amp is for the memories of my youth. Now I grab the Fender Rumble v3 500 because lightweight makes a big difference and it pumps out.

We do the same thing where I live. I'm part of a group of older musicians who have never played the instrument before. We pick it up, we learn it and we perform as a band a few months later. And then continue learning and playing gigs. It's incredibly fun to watch a group of non musicians learn to play together. We may have 3 guitar players, a drummer, 2 bassists, etc. We end up with a classic rock group, a blues group, a country group etc.

For those who said no video no performance, you asked and someone delivered. The OldPlucker got sing (the first time out in public in 40 years) that starts around 1:45. Keep in mind we had only met for the 1st time 5 Mondays before this. We know the vocals and some other stuff needed polishing. Hey! No Guts! No Glory!
