I am trying to install a coil split switch in my newly made PJ Bass. The Middle Pickup is an Aguilar 4P-60 and the Bridge Pickup is an Aguilar Super Double. My Pots are all 250k Vol/Vol/Tone with a 0.047 uf Tone Cap. The switch would only apply to the 2 coils in the Super Double. North Coil and South Coil. Switch Positions would be North Coil/Both Coils/South Coil.

The way I have wired it currently, shown in attached image, I do not have any volume coming out of my bridge pickup.

How do I wire this?

Thank you in advance!

I also attached a blank diagram for those of you who like to draw it out. I prefer that way as well.

I figured out the issue and discovered another.

I used the wiring diagram for the P pickups when wiring the 4P-60. I looked at the diagram for the Super Double and realized that the neck pickup was wired differently. So, I wired the 4P-60 the same way the Super Double diagram shows and also grounded the switch. Now it works!

The second issue I’m having is, when I have the switch in the middle to where both coils in the Super Double are on, I have low output. In the attached graphic, there are 9 separate sections I’m playing. They are as follows from left to right all on the bridge position.

FWD position Tone Zero
FWD position Tone full
FWD position Tone 50%
MID position Tone Zero
MID position Tone full
MID position Tone 50%
Rear position Tone Zero
Rear position Tone full
Rear position Tone 50%

what do I need to do to boost the signal when in the MID position?

Just guessing here, but the low output with both coils selected sounds like the two coils are out of phase with one another. Especially if the low output is also "tinny" sounding and completely lacking in bass.

Doesn't Aguilar supply a wiring diagram with their pickups? Or have one on their website?

They do but I am not running the Super Double stock. I cut the crossover and soldered leads. So, to use your advise, I could switch the leads on the south coil to run opposite of what it is currently and see if that increases the vol.

Thanks!

Did you succed?
Are you happy with the 2 SC sounds? Good output there?
Easy to modify the stock PUS for the split?
Looking for myself to and rather only for the 2 SC options than for the hB mode.
