Just spoke to very nice lady (Kate) at Aguilar as I had noticed my TH700 generates a static sound on the first time the fan comes on, on every power on and this was her response:

What you are hearing is electrical disturbance caused by the fan switch turning on initially. It will not come through the DI, and it will not get any louder. It is normal for the operation of the amp.

Not that I do not believe her and Dave at Aguilar who was supposedly responding to my email with her and says that's by design but doesn't it bother you TH700 owners? I get it, this will never, almost never happen in the live setting as fan will kick on during the setup/warm up and all will be good but this happens to me every single day during home practice and is driving me nuts :D

First world problems :D

Weird as I don't recall it happening on TH500 and AG700 I briefly had in the past.

Wow people, my TH500 had a non operating fan the day I bought it new and it NEVER turned on even after I purposely left it on 3 days contunuously just to check if it had some internal thermostat that had to turn on the non operating fan? I had a new years eve gig in a week so they had me ship it back to New York on my dime (very expensive) and returned it "fixed" saying it was a strange "anomally" to use their exact word s with the fan circuit. Well the damn thing overheated and shut down TONIGHT during the beginning of our 3rd set a year after their "repair" so in a panic with a 150 people on the dance floor of the club we were playing I had to finish the set through the shared amp of my lead guitarist! I am royally angry at this piece of junk I can't depend on at all! The fan should run continously like all other pan fans in every aerospace and commercial electronic cabinet I work with in my over 45 years as an electronic technician but this one doe sn't!! A DEFINITE design flaw Aguilar won't admit to. I make my living playing gigs every week and have no time or patience for this so I suggest NOT buying one at all if you want a dependable amplifier that will perform well consistently.

Wow people. . . . . . . .

IMO your amp definitely has a fault rather than a design flaw. Looks like Aguilar didn't fix it. I accidentally left mine on for a day and my understanding is that the fan will cut out, and stay off, after awhile because when it's not being played very little heat is being generated.

My TH500 has been my regular gigging amp for for about 5 years and I've never had an issue with it.

I also use it at home, at very low volume, and I did hear the fan when I sat closer (about 2 feet), but these days I'm sitting about 10 feet away and don't notice it.

I'd send the amp back to Aguilar, at their cost, for a full repair. Even if you replace the TH500 (which would be understandable), if you are making a living from gigging, I'd suggest you carry backup gear. I do and while I've never had to use it, IMO playing at a professional level you need to be able to carry on no matter what gear failure you experience. Good luck with resolving this problem.
