Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 top with 2 SL112

Hey everyone, this thread might already exist, if so please refer me to it, if not, lets kick off the discussion.
So here's the thing, I have recently purchased Aguilar TH500 top and I want to pair it with 2 SL112. I know that TH500 runs following config:
-One 8 ohm cabinet – 250 watts
-Two 8 ohm cabinets – 500 watts
-One 4 ohm cabinet – 500 watts
given that SL112 runs an impedance of 8 ohm it seems as if it should not be a problem to pair 2 cabinets of this type with TH500 head. And I see on youtube that a lot of bassists (Janek Gwizdala and other) use this type of set up.
Is there anything I need to know before plug-in and play? What is the advantage of 2 SL112 in stead of 1 SL212?
Any "need-to-know" information is highly appreciated

2 SL112's works great with that amp. The advantage of 2 SL112's over one SL212 is the option of only using one 12 for smaller situations and it's easier to carry the 112's.

You may pleasingly find this amp seems to deliver more power than you expect.

I have a TH 500 and 2 SL112’s. It sounds great....but....has the same characteristic of every rear ported cab I have owned in that you can hardly hear them if there is no wall behind them to reflect the sound. Other than that they are wonderful.

It's the same question as applied to many brands. Better off with 212 or 2 x 12s?

212 is usually a little cheaper. "Carry only one cab" solution.

2 x 12s is more flexible, e.g. really nice if you just need 1x12.

With a great brand like Aguilar, you can't go wrong with either. Tonally, I doubt you'd hear a difference. It's really a logistical and $ decision.

I own an Aguilar GS 212 and a pair of GS 112’s. The pair of 112’s sound much better to me than the 212. I don’t know if I would have the same opinion of the equivalent SL cabs.

I haven’t found that to be the case with my SL112s personally. In fact, I’m always impressed how loud and fat sounding these cabs are even on big, open outdoor stages. I rarely, if ever need any extra bass in my monitor because the cabs do the job so well.

Hello,
I opted for 2x SL112 cabinets and very pleased with the versatility it offers me to select a rig suited to a particular room size. One thing I have done is order extra rubber feet to install on each cabinet on the opposite side to the handle, this will offer two advantages 1 to reduce marks on the underside opposite the handle particularly if the gear is placed on a gravel car park surface while unloading the gear and 2 it will allow the cabinets to stack tall on their ends and give clearance of the carry handles this allows the Sound to be heard more distinctly closer to ear level rather than the sound being dispersed at knee or waist level, worked for me might be worth a try. The other thing I would mention here is that I had another read of the Tone Hammer 500 user manual and worth mentioning page 4 refers to "The Drive" control which changes the gain structure and EQ interactively with the Gain control position, don't underestimate the versatility of this control to overall sound, to quote the book " The Drive circuitry surrounds the midrange controls, enabling you to get a Hugh variety of tonal characteristics be simply adjusting the Gain, Mid Level and Mid Freq controls". Worked for me, Hope this helps
