I have the K702. They are excellent overall, but the bass, and especially the sub bass, is noticably weak.

An EQ can help. I use an app called eqMac, which has presets for a lot of headphones, to compensate for the lack of low end. I copied the settings to an EQ preset in my DAW too for use on the master bus when I'm using these headphones.

I'm happy with them, but only in combination with an EQ.

AKG K371 are more balanced and priced much better. They are a closed back although.

For an open back, the Sennheiser HD560S are even better and the price has decreased since its introduction and is holding at about $180.

I have all of these above. My favorite In ear are Meze Alba currently, if anybody needs a wired in ear. They sound like $1,000.00 in ears and are equipped with a detachable DAC/amp.

Also, waiting for the newer closed back HD620S to go on sale for the holidays...crossing my fingers.

Between the Hd560S and Akg702, the HD560S, is a no brainer. Price is about cut in half, actually $250 less and sounds great without a headphone amp or EQ. I will say that; I can wear them for hours on end, while thrashing my Stingray or P bass and also moving around alot and really forget that I even have them on. I have never spent over $300 on headphones. There is no reason to. If you can find the 702 used for less than the 560S, then I would buy them, but I have a JDS Stack----( DAC + Atom 2 headphone Amp).

Keep in mind that companies like akg and Sennheiser have MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) pricing. That's why you see everyone is selling the K702 for $429.

So when you see a great deal and it's not from an authorized dealer, the odds that you're buying a counterfeit are very high.
