Greetings a little new here so let's just get started...

Me and a friend are working on making a bass that resembles an older alembic exploiter. (I've been a fan since I saw deaths lack of comprehension) The only problem with this is that alembic pickups are out ragiously expensive and finding a exploiter for sale would be difficult. I thought about just throwing in the old faithful EMG soapbars but the look would be wrong the closest thing I've found to the alembics AXY4 pickups would be bartolini Washburn pickups they have the same shape and a mild measurement difference (We have yet to drill out pickups and bridge also need to find a way for the bridge replica). Any other ideas on what pickups would look good or in the same general shape? I included pictures below for an idea basic spoiler style shape.

This is an old thread but I only saw this now.
What you should bear in mind with Alembic pickups is that they have a very flat resonant peak and have a large broadband of frequencies. Their pickup is a great match for the type of preamp they use which is a Variable Filter preamp with a resonant peak.
Having said this, Lace Alumitone pickups might be the best candidates. On top of that I suggest the Lusithand Devices Double NFP filter preamp to complete the Alembic electronics circuit.
