Hi everybody,

Here are some videos of me playing my Alembic Series 2 Bass!

https://www.youtube....h?v=ozdCBVUcwEk - Alembic Series 2 Bass - 1 take Improv jam. Two loop stations and drum backing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozdCBVUcwEk - John Scofield - Blue Matter. A great funk slap bass with an awesome sound.

https://www.youtube....h?v=Ga61B6YWK4I - Tony Williams - Fred. A really great fusion song that's both technical and fast.

https://www.youtube....h?v=guyG6q97MnE - Stevie Wonder - Master Blaster (Jammin'). Yet another great by Stevie. The Alembic sounds good.

https://www.youtube....h?v=blmQ-iiEzpE - Love a good snippet of Stanley Clarke.

https://www.youtube....h?v=DVk4GL9wE6Y - Luther Vendross - Never Too Much. Funky slap

Hope you enjoy guys!

Thanks
George

Yes! Fred!

Wow, does that bring back memories. In 1976, I was playing in a small jazz quartet and had just sold my car to buy an Alembic Series I LSB. Fred was one of our main tunes. I remember playing a gig at one of the Detroit area country clubs and doing that tune there. The Count Basie Band was also playing there and half the band stood around listening to us playing that tune; a bunch of 18 year old jazz wannabees. It was a cool band. The guitarist now lives in HI on Maui in the same neighborhood with Hutch Hutchinson and gigs with Willie Nelson. The keys player worked forever at Huber and Breese in Detroit. Don't know what happened to the drummer.

Great stuff. Really nice bass.

Thanks for sharing.

Now, I have a new case of Alembic GAS.
I have satisfied my Alembic GAS now so I can enjoy these things without having my purse strings getting pulled. Superb bass and a great player. Another alembic player from the UK so I hope one day I can catch one of your gigs as I've only heard my own series basses at gigs and so it would be good to hear one FOH played by someone else. ( Stanley Clarke & Jimmy Johnson are the only others I've heard live.)

great sound! Whats the signal chain?

Really simple stuff, two pedals, one is a bass version and the other is a guitar version. Zoom B3 and ZOOM G3X (x = expression pedal). The great thing about these pedals is I can run simultaneous effects (3 on the bass and 6 on the guitar pedal) at the time and change presets freely.

On the bass pedal there's;

Compressor and some sort of amp simulator, Marcus Millar preset i think but it's altered.

On the guitar pedal it's going through;
HW Stack setting/then to delay/hall reverb

Further in the video on there is a slow attack setting...ebow-esk!
Slow attack/FD combo/Stereo Chorus/Stereo Delay/Multitap Delay

Then there's a distortion sounds
Pedal cry/Distortion/FV Vibro/Reverse Delay (My favourite effect)/Hall Reverb

Fast filter setting
ZNR/Compressor/Filter controlled with expression pedal/FD combo/Another filter/Tiled Room Reverb

I think that's all of them!

When recording the loops video it went - Both pedals/Motu/Logic Pro 9

For all my other bass videos is went Bass guitar/F-2b/Motu/Logic Pro 9

Attached are photos of my F-2B - mono and stereo version

If you're into country also I have a video of me playing The Troubadour in London on 27th Feb 2016.

I have more gigs coming up in London too which I'll get on the website ASAP.

Video on George The Bass Hope you can view that alright. Not a bad sound for a camera recording, it was pretty dark in there so you can't see much of the Alembic...but it's nice to gig with it, it certainly turns a few heads that's for sure!

Thanks for all your comments! They are really great to read!!

Cheers

George
