Almost a new member

Hi to all,
Well, member for less than a year only. Didn't think of introduce myself before. Sorry.

I'm retired, 68 and taking DB (mostly jazz) private lessons for 10 months. I began to play at church a few months ago with a very good keyboard accompanist. Playing at church is a great learning school. Playing the DB was an old fantasy that goes back to 50 years ago when I took the BG for a couple of years only. Anyway... I tried to play various instruments in my life. Besides DB, I play the Irish whistle (church, Irish pub), the accordion, the bodhrán and a bit of keyboard.

Learning classical guitar in the past has been of great benefit for my left hand posture.

The DB is now my mistress (the only mistress my wife would accept). I called her Big Mama, for she's like a black mama with me. Big sweet arms hugging me when I play.

That said, the DB is a machiavellian instrument, but I love it.

Happy bassing to all.

Welcome. The double bass is on my bucket list, but, alas my hobby budget will not stretch that far. I also play at church and see where the DB would blend in well.

Welcome, and good luck.
Thanks.
I must say I got the DB at a fair price with accessories, but it needed a serious set-up to be playable.
According to what I know so far, I think you can find a used DB at a good price, just be patient.
