Almost Succumbed to the Call of the Tort

A few months ago I saw the light and got my first P Bass. Life changing for sure! Haven't touched any of my other basses since and drive by my local Guitar Center daily without the slightest urge to stop in. The only thing slightly lacking is the Sunburst/White pick guard combo being a little too bland (isn't that the point of the P Bass??). All the color combinations and I kept coming back to the classic tort. Love the look but the point was to make it more unique. Came a across an Ebay store that made custom wooden pick guards, and viola! Bloodwood Red gives that classic red tort look from afar but upon closer investigation reveals even more beautiful wood grains.

It took a little sanding to get around the neck and pickups and I still need to take it off and drill a hole for the truss rod access, but all in all very pleased, a little vain, but pleased!

I know guys who only play white basses or black basses, but a P bass with 3 tone sunburst finish, rosewood fret board and tort scratch plate is the perfect evolution of a bass guitar for me.

I was imprinted at an early age.
