Amp slaving

Howdy! I’m currently running an orange ad200b and using an orange ob1-500 as a slave. I’ve been thinking about adding in a distortion pedal between the ad200 and the ob1 (like a pre-amp before going into the ob1) because I’m not a fan of the gain on the ob1 amp. Would something like this work or am I running the risk of damaging my amps in any way??

Are you using the OB-1 front panel instrument input? If so, probably be okay as long as you don't create a noise problem by adding gain to the already pre-amped signal from the AD. If you are running the OB by using the power amp input, a simple overdrive pedal may not have enough oomph to push it.

Does that make sense? I may have confused myself there trying to make my point lol. I think I understood what you are trying to do.

Just to be more confusing, what output from the AD is being fed to the OB?

The AD200B has a Slave output that is tapped off the 4 ohm output. It's a line level output, so it's probably going to be too hot for an OD pedal.

Damn that was a fast response! That’s why I luv talkbass Thank ya’s very much.
I run the AD slave output into the front panel of OB with the gain of the AD at 9 o’clock. I was planning on using the tc eyemaster with the gain rolled off and at unity volume just for adding more bottom to the ob1 and Ampeg 810 as it’s pretty thin in that department IMO.
