After several posts on TB and some research on the net I finally decided on this combination. I appreciate all who came to my aid. Please give me some final input on this before I pull the trigger . I have read both good and bad about the PF 500 Portaflex head. I am looking to purchase this item from WWBW.

If you need the thing, and can afford the thing and you still need is to tell you to get it, maybe you should consider why you haven't pulled the trigger yet.

If it's just jitters, get the thing, I really don't know what else you need to hear.

Reliable? Doubt it! I get these quite often and they usually arrive as a blackened brick as the insides just fry. The PF as far as I am concerned is as reliable as the pro 7 so think about 6 months if you are lucky! Likewise the Peavey Mini Mega or in fact any amp that combines a switched mode PSU and a class D amplifier. They don't last.

My understanding is that they had fixed the issue with these and only the first batch were affected. Is that not the case? I’d assume @ram flowers bought one with a warranty.

I really shouldn't butt my head into your finances, but I really hope you know what you're doing re: going into debt for a bass amp. Seriously, debt can be like playing with fire. Conversely, if you've got income coming in and can manage payments effectively it can boost your credit rating, I just know a good few people that can't seem to manage their debt and have become debt-phobic as a result.

I have read on you tube comments that the earlier issues have been fixed. Comments go about 50/50 so I am hopeful it won't burn up. It does come with a warranty. I also bought the extended 3 year platinum coverage warranty just in case. I am being positive as one can be, especially when one buys an item online without trying it out. Thanks again to all.

Congrats with your Ampeg stack. IME I can tell you it sounds great, not only to me, but I got a lot of positive feedback on the sound.
(my amp being a PF800, but the only difference is the watts, sounds the same)

If possible, make sure to clear your debt a.s.a.p., 'cause that will save you money in the long run.
Most fun way is of course by doing some paid gigs...:D

As soon as I get this paid down I will buy the extension cab.

I flip top too. One thing to watch is the seal. My lid has a slight warp, a high spot in the middle, so I had to put some wider and thicker weatherstrip on the box and added another latch on the back middle. Seals fine now. But iI do suggest you have a good look and listen for air chuffing past to ensure you seal up ok. Weatherstrip is cheap.

The wheels are rugged enough for smooth floors but not for four wheeling. They have stout steel frames, solid rubber wheeld and plug into steel sockets. Very rugged for the weight of the rig. The major fault is they are so small dianeter. When pushing on concrete sidewalks or ashphalt lots, turn the cab so only one wheel leads, encountering cracks or divots one wheel at a time. It will easily glide over many surface faults without issue. I can throw my guitar case and accessory bag on top rotate it about 20 degrees and glide my way across any lot and walk ONE TRIP without problems. Love having wheels.
