I need help connecting (2) SWR 8 ohm cabinets into an Ampeg SVT II non pro head (with (2) outputs at 4 ohms each). I dont feel comfortable using (1) cabinet per 4 ohm output. Is it possible to use (1) output for both cabinets? Can I connect (1) cabinet into a 4 ohm output and connect the 2nd cabinet into the first cabinet giving me 4 ohms total? Thanks for your help people!

I'd suggest a thorough reading of the Ohms thread, it REALLY helped me a lot.

But in this case, you want to connect each cab to it's own speaker out. That will allow your amp to put out it's full 4 ohm load evenly to the two 8 ohm cabs.

Cab ohms divided by number of cabs must be equal to or HIGHER than amp ohms. (In your case: 8 ÷ 2 = 4. Totally fine.)

Either way is perfectly fine, both of these connection methods result in the exact same 4-ohm combined load to an SVT-II (non pro); because this amps 2 speaker output jacks are wire together in parallel inside the amp, just like the 2 parallel speaker jacks in your cabs.

Some other amps (like an Ampeg B15n) have their dual speaker output jacks wired in a series configuration, with amps like these It'd make a big difference how you plugged 2 cabs in, but the dual speaker jacks on the SVT-II are simply wire together in parallel, so connecting two 8-ohm cabs will always result in a 4-ohm load no matter how you plug them into your amp.

PS:
The only possible exception to my advice would be if someone modified/rewired the dual speaker jacks on your cabs from the original parallel-wiring configuration to series. That's not a very common thing and I doubt your cabs have been modified; but sometimes guys rewire the cabs speaker jacks to series for certain situations like connecting two 8-ohm cabs to an amp that's not designed to handle a 4-ohm load. (because two 8-ohm cabs connected together in series would result in a 16-ohm combined load, and two 8-ohm cabs connected together in parallel will result in a combined 4-ohm load...)
