Las Vegas
So I picked this one up on Craigslist Las Vegas a few months ago with original speakers. Only issues were the grille and tolex were replaced with carpet and a Fender style grille. I found some good tolex online at a place called Houzz. The Fliptops stuff is standard usually but this other style looks more original ampeg. Only drawback is that it's softer and has a felt backing. It is stretchy though and easy to cut and work with. The speakers are in great shape, but as we know they sound great but aren't really high in power handling. So I looked for a cheap high power substitute. I found these on reverb and they have hemp cones. They are 250 watts each and they were about 55.00 - 60.00. They sound huge in the cabinet. I ran one of my B-40 heads into it. Then the V-4B and... then the magical SVT.... Jumping Jahosaphat! Believe or not it sounds like a monster! Wired to 8 ohms.
