AMPEX PF PORTAFLEX 500 HEAD WITH PEAVEY PVH 410 1,200W 4x10

Here I go again guys. I thought I was starting to understand the ohm and cabinet combination thing then I ran into this combo that I like. Peavey PVH 410 1,200W, 600 watts continuous. at 8 ohms $499.00 and
Ampeg Portaflex PF500 Bass Amplifier Head (500 Watts), at 4 0hms. $399.00 Not sure if this will work ,but it looks affordable to me. I am thinking that since I will be pairing a 500 watt head at 4 ohms with a 600 watt cabinet at 8 ohms I am cutting the 500 watts in half to say 250. If and When I add a second cab at 8 ohms then I will get the full 500 watts. Right or wrong.

I'm looking at a very similar rig at the moment, how is it working for you?
