Any rules or mod approval required for making "Official _____ Bass" threads?

I recently purchased a Bruce Thomas profile bass from The Bass Centre and feel like it'd be nice to wrangle other users together. I certainly would have appreciated having such a thread when I was first considering buying it. As it was, I needed to do a filtered search and individually DM anyone on TB who had ever mentioned owning one.

I think you mean a "club" thread. There's nothing official about them, but it would be good to do a search first (which it sound like you did) to make sure you aren't duplicating an existing club to that make of bass. No, you don't need our approval, but thanks for checking. You should have a "terms and rules" link at the upper right of TB, and subforums often have a forum-specific rules page stickied to the top of them.

We do appreciate the folks who start the various gear clubs and the time they devote to manage those communities within the TalkBass thread. Thank you.
One thing that is helpful to remember along the way is that while you may be the person who starts the club, it doesn't in turn mean you own the thread or have any moderator duties or privileges.
