I'm in a 3 piece band, playing bass and singing some of the songs, and love doing all the extra fills and such. Much more fun that the 4 and 5 piece bands I was in.
But there are quite a few songs where I'd like to be able to play the bass part on the left half of a keyboard, and say strings or horns on the other half. The Doors did everything that way as I recall, no bass player, right?
For example, we might want to cover Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and The Waves; a 3 piece version might be fine, but throwing horns in there would make it killer! I don't think tapping on the bass and keys with the other hand would work well.
I do have some previous keyboard experience from my youth, and loved playing the pedal parts, which probably contributed to playing bass now.
Does anybody do this? How? Any recommendations on a relatively inexpensive keyboard/synth that could do this? Thanks!
