Anyone experiencing 60 Hz hum when using nylon wrapped strings?

You could try shielding your bass better, it may not be shielded at all right now or just have minimal shielding.
The result will be more or less noticeable depending on the environment you're in, but good shielding will always be an improvement. My Precision fretless was unusable until I shielded it properly, when using tapewound strings.

Thanks! I've been inside and did some upgrades (the jack was nasty.) Mine is a 73 P Bass I bought new. Everything is shielded so I think I'm introducing the hum as an antenna. I appreciate your insight and will look at it further. I hate messing with a survivor.

Have tapes on my epi eb0. No hum. Think i had little hum when i had roundwounds and stock pickup but dont fully remember.

Only time i get hum is when I touch 1 of my pickups. Luckily other pickup i rest thumb on doesnt hum when touched.

If everything is shielded well (I typically put copper tape under the pickguard too so that I have a nice cage for the pickup and the control cavity too), and grounded, the hum should be pretty minimal in most situations. Does it get better (or worse) in different rooms or different orientation?
