Double Bass Anyone who can share firsthand experience with Promethean 3110?

I have the Promethian 310's little brother/sister, the P20, that I use at school for combos. It's a pretty impressive amp for the price. With the additional
power and the coaxial speaker in the P3110's cabinet I would think it would sound even better. Of course the best of the Promethian's was probably the original 5110.
It had a graphic EQ section that was pretty useful. Since the Promethian is primarialy aimed at the Bass Guitar market, you should definitely try it out with your
Double Bass and Pickup. The Promethian owners manual, does not give the input impedance of the amp. My guess is that you'd need something like one of the
inexpensive, FDeck HPF/Buffer Preamps, to load the input for a piezo pickup. It's a very reasonably priced combo amp. I also like the Promethian's protective carrying bag.

I currently have the p3110. Got it for my slab which it works amazingly. For my double bass i borrow an fdeck and a gage lifeline (hurray to generous friends) to try things out, it sounds pretty good. Cuts well with a drummer and guitar. When I first was trying it out at home it seemed pretty underpowered for 300w. But if you are in audience distance you can still hear it really well. I have yet to try it with a microphone. Also one major reason I got it is size. It's is very compact, tilts, and is not heavy.

I'm very happy with my Promethean 3110 for both upright and electric. No preamp required as long as you learn to tweak the EQ properly. Love how light it is. For small spaces it's fine by itself; for larger ones and outdoor gigs I add an Eden 10" extension cab and have had no problems. I often have a tough time choosing between the 3110 and my Fender Rumble 100, which sounds a whole lot louder than a 100-watt amp and features a 12" speaker that shapes the low end a little better. I'm very satisfied and would recommend both amps without reservation.
