Just put of curiosity, as I'm a 100% pure mobile user, what's the need for it? The version of the web browser seems mobile friendly and works fine, no?

Edit: Realized I probably sounded a bit standoffish, no negativity meant. Not to say there's no benefit to an app, just curious to the thoughts for it. Mostly from thinking of it in a cost/benefit standpoint.

I was surprised that it doesn’t open in Safari. It’s really nice that it’s its own dedicated browser. Somewhere on the site there are instructions for this. I saw them when I first logged in to the new site, but I couldn’t find them. Your screenshots are better… lol.

Yes, you can add a web site as an "app" to your desktop on iOS and Android, but it's still just the web site on mobile.

And yes, many apps are just packaged and skinned web browsers.

This site works pretty good on mobile, so I'm not complaining. I think it's still a "Web first" joint, catering to a demographic that is still using desktop/laptop computers primarily.

I could be wrong! If it were my site, and the users were more than 50% mobile (phone and tablet) I'd seriously consider developing an app.

TalkBass does not develop the forum software by themselves but is instead licensing and running a forum software called XenForo Forums.

If at all, the software company that develops XenForo Forums could decide to offer a mobile app as an alternative frontend. From what I see on their website, it does not look like they are planning to do so.

I found it. The tutorial video for installing the app is at the bottom of the left-hand menu, in case anyone is still curious.

Personally, I prefer the Safari version. The app’s navigation controls are a little clunky.
