Let me first start off by saying I am the last guy anyone would ever say was cheap or frugal.
That said, I am trying to decide whether to let an issue slide or if I should be royally pissed off considering the lack of time passed between a purchase and when I was offered a 30% discount code via email.
I'm leaning towards the latter based on principal alone.
Jan 9 (1 am) I placed an order for 7 items totalling $402 US.
Breakdown as follows:
Subtotal $374.00 USD
Discount (15% off) $-66.00 USD
Shipping $28.50 USD
Total $402.50 USD
Then the duty charges followed $72.51 CDN
Jan 12 (3 pm)
I receive an email with an offer of 30% off any of their products using a NAMM code.
Reading this, I called them and inquired if they would be gracious enough to honour the discount from my purchase.
Conversation was pleasant and she was very understanding acknowledging "Gee, wow!, yeah you DID just purchase this a 3 days ago, didn't you?"
"I don't foresee my supervisor having an issue with being so close in time, but I'll need to speak with them first so I'll email you back"
5 minutes later,
I’m sorry to say I am not able to refund you for the NAMM promo code you’ve received. It would have to be applied to a separate order within the timeframe of the promotion. I definitely hope you take advantage of this limited time promo code! If I can help you with anything else please let me know.
My response,
That's unfortunate news and let's face it, it's not much of a promo that I can take really advantage of as you suggested since I just purchased 1 of nearly every product you offer.
I'm not cheap but the US dollar is harsh and a 36 hour difference meant a savings of at least $100 US meaning that would be at least $130 CDN.
Anywhere I have ever shopped has honoured sales within a short timeframe.
Example would be the price drop on the Bergantino B amp I purchased on a Friday night and within a couple days the shop immediately refunded the difference.
I respect the restocking fees (most times) but facing a a 20% restocking fee, I couldn't send the shipment back to them.
Gruvgear not even sure why I'm on the fence about this, you've made my permanent poopie list for this and I'll be sure to spread the word.
