Are there boutique hardware makers for bass?

The only custom hardware company in the US I know of is Frets On The Net. They've been around a long time, but I've never personally dealt with them or know anyone who has. Their web site shows mostly fairly common guitar parts, but they say they do custom instrument hardware.

Some of us Luthiers here on Luthier's Corner make our own custom metal hardware for our own projects. But I don't think any of us are willing to do one-offs for customers. We're technically capable, but it's too much work for too little money.

But you can ask.

What kind of hardware are you looking for?

If you design the hardware in sufficient detail there are (generic industrial) services that will manufacture it to your specs, many of which are capable of working at the one-off (or 10-off) level. That does depend on your design being accurate and able to be manufactured. Send Cut Send is one that multiple folks have mentioned using, but I'm pretty sure they are not the only such network of "folks with machines" connecting with "folks with designs"

Howdy Bruce!

A hollowbody tailpiece with a compatible fixed bridge.

Jeremy Kirsch aka @Freekmagnet is finishing up a hollowbody bass of his own design right now, and he's made his own bridge and tailpiece for it. You can ask him.

I got a set of oversized pickup rings from Frets On The Net.

They were quite easy to deal with, priced reasonably, and the rings came out perfectly.
