Hey everyone,

I’m considering singing up for the Electric bass courses on Artistworks taught by Nathan East. I looked at the course sections and like it, and I am a fan of him as a bassist in the 80s for 80s pop and new wave songs (my favorite genre of music pretty much). I know learning ALL styles is the best method and I don’t doubt he doesn’t cover all styles.

just because it is $279.99 for 12 months…(to get the VIP bonus membership content as well)…I’m wondering whether it’s worth it to sign up and if anyone here has and thinks it was a great idea/worth it?

thanks in advance for the input!

I am currently taking the course and have the following to share:
1.) Nathan couldn't be more kind, eager to teach, relaxed and happy.
2.) He is a superb bassist and has an in-depth, pro-level knowledge of how music works, specifically bass, and is stage-ready to perform in any genre.
3.) The beginner course is lacking. He goes into intermediate-advanced level topics very soon in the beginner course, all the while assuming a beginner has any clue where the notes are, much less how to navigate the fretboard, mucher less, theory and how to apply them in practical ways. Other than the first few lessons,
hang on with both hands, because it goes fast and deep very fast.

In summary: I would not recommend the course to a beginner. It would just be frustrating, as it has been for me. However, if you are truly at an intermediate level or above...start at the beginning, and still, you will be challenged.
By the way, Artistworks offers up to 40%-50% off around the Christmas holidays and at other times, if want to save some money. For the intermediate-level player or above, it is still worth the full price, perhaps for the beginner as well.
