ashdown tone pocket

I find that charging the AshDown tone pocket is a problem, the TRUETONE 1SPOT charger does not fit into the 9 volt neg tip input of the tone pocket, my tone pocket must have been manufactured incorrectly. I bought several of these chargers, nine volt & neg tip, none fit. SO i purchased a 12 volt positive tip, but reading closely the charger actually says 15 V pos tip. I am going to try using that, and if tone pocket breaks again, I’m done with AshDown products.

So, before you do the truly stupid thing and pump 15v with a + Tip and fry the unit. Perhaps reach out to Ashdown. At least then you can possibly return the lil amp and not look like a dope.

EDIT: Thank goodness Funk Head looked it up. The 15v +Tip is in the zone. I guess the various - Tip 9v never even made it in the circuit. Thanks, Funk Head.

It appears that the 12v +Tip is for the CAR CHARGER provided in the box. ALSO, the 10v wallwort adaptoer is included in the box. It will operate with a 9 VOLT internal BATTERY not a 9 VOLT ADAPTER.

Amazing how Ashdown is able to do so much and still there are people p*ssed off who can't read or follow directions.

My AshDown Tone Pocket, purchased 2019, came with the TRUERONE 1SPOT 9V neg tip charger. i purchased the AshDown thru Sweetwater, and eventually they just ignored me. I dealt with Sweetwater for quite some time, several weeks.
I sent this to AshDown but no response as well. - - -> I purchased AshDown Tone Pocket from Sweetwater, 2019, came with a TruTone 9V Neg tip charger, which doesn’t fit into the tone pocket. SO i another charger i had and worked fine, but that charger stopped working, and i was not able to find a replacement. I think the 9V tone pocket input needs 5.5, 2.5 mm input adapter, and the 9V trutone is a 5.5 2.1 mm adapter, so it doesn’t fit. I asked Sweetwater to find me a charger, they stopped communicating saying tech support would contact me.

Sounds strange.

First, your story about the amp is odd, to me. Your experience with Sweetwater is also odd, to me, in my experience with them and Ashdown.

Perhaps reach out again to Sweetwater Customer Service.

Ive spent a lot at Sweetwater, the AshDown tone pocket the only problem ive had. Tried the 15V pos tip, seems to barely charge and dies after a few minutes. Ive fixed my dishwasher, washing machine, gas dryer, oven, - - >I sure i can fix this DIY.

Just so everyone on TB knows. I've spoken with a CS manager @ SWEETWATER and they are waiting for this person's problem to be discussed and resolved as an Ashdown dealer. (I also contacted Ashdown this morning about buying another amp from them. I've lost count as to how many I've owned. Still zero issues.)

Good luck!

It clearly states that a 12-18V power supply is in the box. I have no Idea what's going on with Sweetwater but it sounds like maybe that was a sweet water only deal to have a 1spot. If so, that was a mistake on their part.

A new in Box unit will have the proper power supply and should give 8 hour play time.

I saw 12v CAR ADAPTER?

What do you see about a car adapter?

From Sweetwater:

"9V rechargable battery allows approximately two hours of playing time between charges."

"Includes USB cable, 1/4" Headphone adapter, 10V power supply, 12V car charger, and 4 adhesive rubber feet"

Perhaps if the guy calls and talks with Sweetwater and not continuing to DIY an issue he's on TB crying about, it will be figured out by those offering to figure it out?

But, as this is the "crying corner" for Bass players we'll just have to make unsupported conclusions and random accusations on a manufacturer that I've noticed the crying corner likes to talk a bunch of smack about while peddling other brands.

Took it apart, T10 used on front cover, its only a 280mah battery, it does charge but doesn’t keep the charge very long, so ill be replacing that with a better rechargeable. The 15V pos tip charges the battery at 10.51 V, which is OK. I was just sent the wrong charger for the 9V neg tip, as tonepocket was defective when first arrived and i sent everything back two years ago.

Great, so now do yourself a favor and call SWEETWATER so they can take care of you and what you insist was an Ashdown issue that Ashdown did not address two years ago. BECAUSE, you have a (2) year warranty having purchased from Sweetwater.

Give them the opportunity to get this corrected.

Called SweetWater, they contacted AshDown and AshDown sent me directly another 15V pos tip. Took about a month.

“A new in Box unit will have the proper power supply and should give 8 hour play time.” That did not ring true for me, i charge overnight and these days i get barely 30 minutes of playing time. Ill remove the lower voltage charging port and run the new 1000 mah battery charging cable thru there, that may give me 8 hours truly portable playing time.

Forgive me, but no where am I seeing an expected 8 HOURS OF PLAY TIME in either Ashdowns site or Sweetwater for the (V2). I seriously doubt that Ashdown went from an expected 8 HOURS down to 2 hours for the V2 unit.

You sir are full of excuses.

You need to call and get it taken care of. But doubt that you will because of the way you are presenting your information here.

Good luck with your experiments!

It absolutely does say 8 hours on the Ashdown website.
“8 hours of playing time. Loads of charging options.”

From the ASHDOWN site:

With a host of practical features including a comprehensive 3 band EQ(+/- 15db on each band)for effective tone sculpting, line input (to connect to your smart phone or music player). Analog to Digital conversion via the mini USB 2.0 output for direct recording into your favourite DAW with no latency. 48K / 44.1KHz sampling rate for both playback and recording gives crystal clear audio, plus a balanced line out so you can even connect directly to a PA. (Lastly a 9v rechargeable battery allows 2 hours playing time between charges.)

@FunkHead what Ashdown site are you on?

Ashdown Tone Pocket On Bass The World

8 hours of playing time. Loads of charging options.
The Tone Pocket is powered by a rechargeable 9v battery
(which can be changed if required), providing approx. 8 hours playing time.

The unit comes supplied with its own 10v DC power supply (centre pin negative) for mains charging.
