I used a Stingray, but that's what I was using at the time for almost everything.

When I was in a RHCP tribute I used this bass:

Carvin that I modded with Seymour Duncan MM pickups and an Aguilar OBP-3.

Worked fantastically IMO. Even after he started recording with the 60's Jazz with flats (Stadium Arcadium) he played a modulus with rounds in most live situations. Now he has custom Fenders that are similar to his Modulus model but with wood necks.

So I say Stingray all the way.
