awesome funk/RnB/groovy/motown type songs to learn on bass?

was just looking at the "hard songs to learn on bass" thread and thought why not have a ever growing list of songs which can serve as an inspiration to create beautiful bass lines and offer as place to reach out to when looking for the next juicy bass line to get under your fingers heh


songs though, because songs make the world go around not the atomic thumb "bass solos" heh (sorry maybe sometimes they do come together and you get a song with an atomic thumb bass too but rarely)

My Favorite Jamerson line...

my first bass teacher asked me if I was into funk, and I said sure, like that slapping and popping stuff, and he said no, and wrote out this line for me.

That was in 1994 when even bass players had never heard of Jamerson.
