Backing Tracks For Playing Bass...

I like to search YouTube for covers of songs done by solo guitar players W/O backing music. And just jam along with him/her, like I got a new friend

You might like Chordsterr from the same guys that developed Songster. It is basically people playing acoustic covers and they display the chord being played so it is easy to follow along. It is free so far but they may begin to charge a monthly fee at some point. Very good acoutic guitar players.

Any song. Just turn the bass all the way down.

That doesn't always work as good as it should theoretically.

I find that doing that tends to suck some of the overall ambience out of the recording and other instruments as well.

Spent considerable time with 10 band L+R EQ's trying to get around that. You want the other instruments to retain their character and not sound "tinny".
