I am not sure if what I am (or think that I am) looking for exists, but... :)

For my acoustic bass guitar as well as for my U-bass I would like a small preamp pedal - preferably with onboard compression. Basic controls, not a lot of bling, HPF would be nice but no need for OD/dist/fuzz of any kind.
Something like the EBS MicroBass would do the job nicely but way over the top. Same with the GK Plex that I already own.
Any thoughts...?

I think the gr bass dual pre could work, it has a comp that works on both on both channels and an overdrive that works on channel 2 only (you don't have to use it).it also allows you to level each channel out so you can switch between instruments without moving the volume knobs. I looked at their single channel version but it doesn't have a compressor

HPF...comp...notch, etc. I'd find a secondhand Fishman Pro as it ticks the boxes. More than 3 knobs but not as bad as others. Also has a tuner and DI. Beats the hell out of buying something super-simple than purchasing / adding addt'l peripherals.

Fishman Pro, like... Fishman Platinum Pro? Or is/was there a non-Platinum Pro also?

Looks nice, and very capable. Not very far though from the EBS MicroBass that I see almost as benchmark...
